"news.blueworldhosting.com" was until recently working on port 119

it does however work great on port 563 (i'm using "localhost" with
omnimix and tor browser (ssl / socks 5) . . . blueworld's the best!

(dittos "news.neodome.net", "nntp.csiph.com", "paganini.bofh.team",
"freenews.netfront.net", et al . . . all free servers are helpful)

I hadn't heard from him since:
"""

"""

... Host is idle: usenet.blueworldhosting.com ...

now work fine:
"""
Dec 17 23:50:00 gatto innd: usenet.blueworldhosting.com:64 NCmode "MODE STREAM" received
"""

thanks to everyone!

The server is back online. For the last 15 years it has been hosted in a data
center belonging to my employer. Sadly, we closed that data center and times
have changed so my free colo is no longer an employee benefit.

I moved the servers to my house with an upgraded "business" connection and a
block of IPs. I have not been able to get the reverse DNS records setup yet,
still fighting my provider's ignorant support staff.

Hey Jesse, I've tried emailing the contact address on your site:
***@blueworldhosting.com
a few times but got no answer. I'm running a web-usenet gateway at
https://newsgrouper.org.uk/ which gets current posts from eternal-september,
but that has very little history, so I'm using news.blueworldhosting.com
for historical searches (XPAT on NNTP). I wanted to check that this
was ok with you?

My apologies, I know I have seen your e-mails, but have not replied. I have
been beyond overwhelmed with life and work this year and the last few months
have been the worst.

As long as you are not allowing others to post using an account I've provided,
I do not care how you access the spool. My only other concern would be
excessive consumption of resources with XPAT, but I can't say I've noticed any
issues, though I haven't logged into the spool server directly in probably 6
months.

To anyone else who may be reading and have e-mailed me requesting an account -
I'm sorry I have not replied. Things will begin to slow down for me soon, so
try sending me another request, but do not be upset if I don't respond
quickly.

Thanks Jesse, I hope next year is more peaceful!

All posting from my gateway goes through eternal-september. I don't even
have an account on your server, I'm just reading from it anonymously.

I don't have many users so far, but I have tried to code the XPAT search
so that it will not cause excessive load. It starts by querying a block
of 10000 article numbers, then keeps doubling the block size until it finds
at least a screenful (30) of results. So a query for something silly like
'*' will just return the first 10000 and then stop. The code for this is at
https://chiselapp.com/user/cmacleod/repository/newsgrouper/file?name=scripts/newsgetter&ci=tip
- search for 'xpat'.

Ahhh so you're the cause of the flood of rejections, I suppose I better
make a change to access file then ;)

Dear friend,
I am sorry that the datacenter where you worked has closed!,
Have you found a new place to work yet?
Can I do something for you?
You are a good technician and a good computer man.

with best wishes.
pace and love!

We operate in multiple data centers. It was just the data center in my
hometown that we closed, so there was a lot of sentimental attachment.
