In the end I decided to connect to other servers via UUCP instead of
NNTP so we now are having a small UUCP network.

we have changed our ideas a bit and are now running a small uucp/nncp
network without direct nntp links (except for user connections)

on the other hand if someone wants to connect to my server via uucp I'd
be happy to.
